The Bedspread is a simple and elegant way to make the bed
attractive, and integrate the bed into your decor.
It covers everything, from the pillows, to the floor, and
eliminates the need for pillow shams and bed skirts that normally accompany a
comforter.
Our bedspreads are quilted with 7 oz. bonded polyester fill, and
250-TC white cotton on the back. The top side can be constructed of just
about any fabric we have in stock, and even a few patchwork designs that combine
several fabrics.
When ordering a "drape" bedspread (as opposed to a
waterbed tuck bedspread, designed to tuck in on three sides into a waterbed
frame), you'll need to know the drop of the bed, which is the distance in inches
from the top of the bed to the floor. This number is steadily growing, as
more and more people purchase pillow-top mattresses that dramatically raise the
height of their bed. While a few years ago, the average drop was 21",
this number has climbed to 24", with a significant number of beds as high
as 30".
Bedspreads are available with several options to suit special
needs or accommodate unusual situations:
Fitted at the Foot: This common configuration
is also called "boxed corners" and is fairly self-explanatory.
Instead of rounded bottom corners that flare out at the foot of the bed, a
bedspread with boxed corners provides a more crisp and military look.
This option is ideal for situations where the bed takes up most of the
available space in the room, and extra fabric flaring out at the corners
becomes an impediment to walking around the bed. Split corners: With four-post beds, or beds
that have footboards attached, split corners are often the only way to make
a bedspread fit properly. The fabric doesn't just bunch up around
these obstacles, but smoothly avoids them. In most cases, the split
comes all the way to the surface of the bed, but if this isn't desired, or
isn't necessary, the split can be just a partial one (at the last eight
inches, for instance, to accommodate a footboard attached to the frame),
with the remainder of the corner fitted, and sewn.
Colored Backing: All
bedspreads come with a white cotton backing, automatically. If,
however, a different color is desired, it
can be done for an additional charge.
You are limited in the color choice by the fabric we have on hand, so please
find out if the color you want is available.
Heavier Fill: Bedspreads are
normally quilted with a 7 oz. bonded polyester fill. A heavier (11
oz.) fill is available for those who want a more full and thick look, or who
just want a warmer bedspread. This can be done for an additional charge.

Cording or Welt Finish: Adding a cord around the edge of the
mattress, or around the edge of the bedspread is possible, and can
look quite attractive. This can be done for an additional charge . The bedspread shown here has Self Welt
Finish. |

| Reverse Pillow Sham:
This is a length of fabric that is reversed at the head of the
bed, so that pillows lay on top of it, and then it is folded back
over them, presenting the top side on top. It is not very
common, since we offer a standard 19" pillow-tuck at the head
of our bedspreads anyway, but it is available for customers who
prefer it. This can be done for an additional charge. |
